This is our first demo session focusing on posters for unionising. We took a
look at Artists' Union England, UVW-DCW and MayDay Rooms archive for inspiration to explore Gimp and Inkscape and learn how to prepare material for risograph and digital print.

In this session Simone is using Inkscape and the Trace Bitmap function to create a collage of images and explore colour. She will export an image to Gimp and explore the use of filters. The theme will be a kind of ‘Hidden Figures’ poster paying homage to Claudia Jones- founder of the Notting Hill Carnival.

This session is an introduction to desktop publishing software Scribus. After usual introduction to Scribus interface, we are looking at gold section and page layout again,
this time inspired by Libre Graphics Magazine. We will explore how to gather content (if needed) released under a copyleft license and combine it in multiple pages.

A speedy introduction to Libre Graphics basics. 2X2hrs online session introducing Gimp, Inkscape and graphic design basics for making a poster, flier and a booklet.
This programme serves as an introduction to Libre Graphics, industry standard Free software for a wide
range of visual communication disciplines such as graphic design, illustration and animation. We will look at both software skills
and graphic design basics in the context of software e.g. how to handle colour, type, layout and image in Gimp, Inkscape and Scribus.
The programme aims to encourage creativity and curiosity through the study of digital tools within a stimulating, secure and well
managed learning environment.
A 12 week study of 3 Libre Graphics tools: Gimp, Inkscape and Scribus for students interested in graphic design and visual communication foundations, aged 16-19.
The structure/timetable simulates a UK HE 12 week programme of activities (a module) culminating in independent mini project and (online) public presentation of
students' work.
